Cars (2006)

“Float like a Cadillac, sting like a Beemer.”

Today was an eventful day for me. After many years of inconsistent service, my old Hyundai Sonata finally was declared beyond repair, and I had to replace it. This, of course, wound up costing a bit more than I wanted to spend, and in what I’m sure is more important for you, the readers of this blog, it took up longer than I wanted it too as well.

Fortunately I did wind up with a fantastic new(ish) vehicle, and I did get home in time to watch a movie for today’s Saturday Replay. However, this is going to have to be a quickie review.

Of course it was Pixar’s Cars.

The final produced by the independent Pixar, prior to their acquisition by Disney, (though, the House of Mouse did distribute the film,) Pixar was also the first Pixar movie that I wouldn’t call a near-perfect film. It stars the voice of Owen Wilson as the voice of anthropomorphic race-car Lightning McQueen, along side a typical Pixar stable of great actors playing quirky characters.

The film is a lot of fun, and there are some good laughs, and a nice helping of nostagic Americana, but the plot is a little too well-worn for me. Still, it’s absolutely Worth Seeing.
