Hugo (2011)

“This might be an adventure, and I’ve never had one before.”

Sunday Single Sentence review:

A film that doubtless was visually impressive in 3D theaters, but owes much of its acclaim to the fact that movie critics loved that it’s largely a love letter to the early days of cinema, Hugo is actually a pretty boring movie with a jumbled yet simplistic story that hardly seems worth the effort put into telling it, but it’s still worth watching, if only for the first-rate performances by Asa Butterfield and Chloë Moretz.

[Hugo (2011) – Directed by Martin Scorsese – Rated PG for mild thematic material, some action/peril and smoking]
